The Vaughan Woods Memorial State Park is 250 acres of gentle woodland trails running along the banks of the Salmon River. Home to a variety of wildlife including squirrels, foxes, deer and porcupines it can still surprise with less commonly viewed creatures including coyotes, fisher cats, owls and the wonderfully noisy pileated woodpecker. On occasion, there have been witnesses to moose, bobcats and even otters.
