Fort Foster Park
Located on Gerrish Island in Kittery Point, Fort Foster offers three small but sandy beaches, an extensive trail system, restroom facilities in season, picnic areas, and old military fortifications to explore. The park features an excellent view of the entrance to Portsmouth Harbor, including Whaleback Light, Portsmouth Harbor Light and Fort Constitution.

Vaughan Woods State Park
The Vaughan Woods Memorial State Park is 250 acres of gentle woodland trails running along the banks of the Salmon River. Home to a variety of wildlife including squirrels, foxes, deer and porcupines it can still surprise with less commonly viewed creatures including coyotes, fisher cats, owls and the wonderfully noisy pileated woodpecker. On occasion, there have been witnesses to moose, bobcats and even otters.
Water Country is New England’s largest water park with more than a dozen high-excitement slides and rides. Water Country is located just over the border in Portsmouth, NH.
York’s Wild Kingdom Zoo
York’s Wild Kingdom is a family-oriented zoo and amusement park centrally located in York Beach, Maine. Surrounded by beautiful forest and natural wetlands, the zoo is situated on 25 acres that have been set aside for the preservation of ecology.
